Courage

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

Thankfulness

A while ago, my dear friend, Brandon gave me this quote and a hug...

"The greatest heroes in life are not the courageous, bold, or confident. Nor are they great leaders of men. Rather, true heroes are the people who fight the most difficult battles and overcome obstacles we can never truly understand. For these are the people that inspire us to climb mountains of our own."

I am thankful for people like Brandon.

On a separate note, please send your thoughts and prayers to Jess and her husband over at "A LITTLE BLOG ABOUT THE BIG INFERTILITY." She recently went through her 3rd IVF, only to have it end because it was discovered she had an ectopic pregnancy.

Bring Kobe Home

Kobe and I met during our first week of grade 8 at Wellington Secondary. We quickly became friends and were inseparable. Weekend sleepovers, camping and vacations with our families were quite the norm. Her grandma always referred to us as "2 peas in pod." Sadly, sometime during university, life took us in different directions and we didn't see each other as often.

Last Friday, Kobe and her boyfriend were in a motorcycle accident in Bali. She's in serious condition in the ICU. While her mama has traveled to be by her side in Indonesia, her step-dad, and sisters, Leah and Marie have been working tirelessly to raise funds ($100,000) to bring her home. They are also looking for B- donors.

The video I've embedded has information on how you can help bring Kobe home.

WTF?

Kate over at Busted Plumbing recently blogged another edition of (I'm Infertile) "And Yet THESE People Can Procreate." In Kate's words, "It's where we all have a laugh at the irony that there are so many people who would love to be wonderful parents but are struggling, and yet there are these "colorful" folks out there who couldn't find their own butthole with two hands and a flashlight, but have still somehow managed to create offspring!"

Jennifer Stweart: 3D Film Got Me Pregnant
Friday, May 7, 2010
By Newsolio Editor

The wife of a US Army soldier, Jennifer Stweart, claims she got pregnant by watching a 3D adult film while visiting friends in New York.

38-year-old Jennifer Stweart used the bizarre claims to explain to her husband why their child was black, despite the lovers being very much white skinned.

Jennifer Stweart said her child looks just like a black actor in the adult movie she claims to have watched in 3D with her east coast pals.

“A month after watching the movie, I started feeling dizzy and the results were positive,” Jennifer Stweart said.

Stweart also admits her marriage to the US military man who serves overseas could be in trouble: “Even though my husband believed in me, my marriage could be at risk. But he knows I’m faithful” she said.

Despite his wife's bizarre explanation, Iraq US military man Erick Jhonson said: “I see it as suspicious. The films in 3D are very real. With today’s technology, anything is possible.”

What's worse? The cheating wife? Or the husband who believes that it's feasible for his wife to become pregnant by watching a 3D movie?

Heavy Metal

Many eastern medicine practitioners believe that body piercings, especially those that run down the middle of one's body, are B-A-D. Traditional Chinese medicine believes the human body has meridians - channels by which one's energy (qi) flows - and when a metal piercing is constantly stimulating points along these meridians, energy blockages and long term health problems can occur.

Dr. George Goodheart, author of "Chinese Lessons for Modern Chiropractors", writes of the Antenna Effect. Goodheart discovered that taping a small metal ball onto acupuncture points will result in long term stimulation. In fact, this goes for any metal that is in constant contact one one's body and, depending on where the metal is located, a series of health issues may be present.

So last Thursday, at my weekly acupuncture appointment, Tammy began to stick her needles in my abdomen when she suddenly stopped.

Her: You have a belly button piercing.

Me: Umm, ya. I'm slightly confused since this woman's been looking at my stomach every week since the beginning of December, and I've never been without it.

Her: I'm having a flashback.

Me: mkay...

Her: I just remembered one of my teachers lecturing about how navel piercings cause infertility.

Me: What?!

Turns out she had one of those moments where a long lost memory is triggered by something in the present (my belly button being the source of inspiration).

Without anymore info on hand, I told her I'd be back next week with answers care of Dr. Google.

Basically, the belly button - "the forbidden acupuncture point" - is known in Chinese medicine as CV8 and is located on the Ren Meridian Channel (female issues) and also impacts the central nervous system. And we all know that our CNS is responsible for just about every function in one's body.

Do you see where this is going?

Article after article concluded that women who are trying to conceive should remove their navel piercing. Furthermore, a pregnant or breastfeeding women should NEVER leave her piercing in. Dr. S. Byrd even went so far as to state,"there are also fertility issues in many women who have belly piercings."

WTF?!

Now the question is, do I file this piece of info into the "Diet/Exercise/Meditation" folder, or into the "Rose Quartz/Pomegranate/Robitussin" slot?
